Haas VF-24

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Engine air intake expanded v last year, with supplementary channels to either side of primary. Looks like feeding more centre line cooling / flow facility.

Is this balance consequence of reduction in lower sidepod volume in facilitating that aero preference?

Likely Ferrari too as last year airbox architecture looked mirrored between the two.
Formu1a uno claims Ferrari will retain the triangular shape with no 'ears' as they're referred to

The difference between C44 and VF-24 airbox is clear, Sauber has been using airbox for gearbox oil cooler for a long time. VF-24 ears are very small and likely just precautionary auxiliary inlets for some internal flow regulation.
And they call it a stall. A STALL!

Not just the gearbox. Sauber's centerline cooling systems are usually big and compound to cool many systems, including intercooler water, ERS, hydraulics etc.
It is Haas who seems to use small centerline rads for small things like the gbox in the last seasons.

Rear suspensions seem to retain the same usual concept (pullrod and inverted lower wishbones)

The most rearward member of the lower wishbone looks like it has been moved up in relation the the forward member + driveshaft. Moving it further away from the upper surface of the diffuser. This angle and the blur does not make me very confident in this claim so I'll avoid having strong opinions regarding it until we have more conclusive images.

Hopefully some still shots of the SF24 on Tuesday can give us more info.

The bargeboard (outboard floor fence) is extremely wobbly/bendy. Will need reinforcement as is surely not desirable

Also on Haas' website it lists the engine specs as the 066/10 which was Ferrari's engine last year and the 2024 engine being the 066/12. Just a mistake surely

I also spotted that on Entry list for the 2024 Bahrain GP on Forix database and Wiki...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2024_Form ... ampionship

and it still stands 066/10 on Haas F1 Website

https://www.haasf1team.com/vf-24

Rules don't allow different engine spec from 2018 after Sauber ran year-older spec Ferrari engines in 2017 and Toro Rosso in 2016.

But still, weird mistake?

In China, Magnussen will have a new floor and sidepod bodywork, most likely with reduced inlet height along the lines of late RB19. The next big package will be in Imola, further changes to the floor and a new front wing.

https://formu1a.uno/en/haas-to-introduc ... ng-rounds/

Like Ferrari, Haas is now able to focus on adding performance and not driveability.
And they call it a stall. A STALL!
