Aero Chief fired or resigned?
He was fired to make way for Resta and Enrico Sampo, they were able to join Merc earlier than expected (October) , there was an agreement between Merc and Ferrari to let Loic Serra and Jerome D’Ambrosio join Ferrari at the same time.

Honestly. The car looked easy to drive...pace is another thing but the drivability was interesting.

Imola is a tough track if you cant trust your car

yer looks like he was fired after giving him plenty of chances in 2022, 2023 and 2024 the aero is not on par with the top teams. He was responsible for the aero team direction but the failed. The floor DF level still isn't level as others.

The car looked more drivable today which was nice. And they can clearly run softer suspension as seen by the kerb riding which is another positive. It seems the upgrades have worked in making it nicer to drive. This is good as future upgrades can be focused purely on increasing downforce and reducing drag (and the other million things they need to improve).

Whilst sad to see personnel go, if the aero chief was holding the team back, it was the right choice. Maybe the start of a restructuring of Merc?

Glad LH GOAT is happy with the car..........for now [-o<

Fired allegedly.
He sounds Italian.. I think he got pulled "back home" into Ferrari when he caught wind of the big plans over there.

He was there six year, but he was only the aero chief since October 2023!! He wasn't fired just so. I think he simply resigned in his failures than get fired. That would be a bit harsh wouldn't it?

Since October 2022. He'd be responsible for the 2023 and 2024 aero. Wonder who filled in for Blandin from July 2022 while Vino was promoted in October?

I still don't understand this title system in the teams :D specially for the aero roles,

For instance is Jarrod right now the top of the Aero?

If I combine two below profiles

https://www.linkedin.com/in/jarrod-murp ... bdomain=uk
https://www.linkedin.com/in/eric-blandi ... bdomain=uk

The order is: Aerodynamics Director -> Head of Aerodynamics -> Chief Aerodynamicist -> Principal Aerodynamicist

If the chain is like that, does that mean that there are multiple heads of Aerodynamics and chief Aerodynamicists?

Maybe this confusing hierarchy is part of the problem :?

Regardless Resta is good addition. But big loss still was Loic Serra i think his void is harder to fill. Not sure there is many like him?

That McLaren though.

Good lap from GR. not surprising that Lewis struggled in the sector that had quick chicanes...been that way since the beginning of the new regs

Merc still needs to work on their single lap pace, but 6th and 8th isn't bad and their race pace seemed good, still hard to overtake here I guess though

Upgrades and still getting out-qualified by dollar store cars like Haas and RB.

Those two teams giving their best and being able to be better with fraction of resources gives you no right to call them "dollar store cars".

Have some respect for them, since they have earned it.
If i would get the money to start my own F1 team, i would revive Arrows

Correct me if Im wrong but I believe these upgrades were more to address their narrow working window and issues with the tires overheating when the track is hot and not strictly a performance upgrade, before quali Toto said he expected them 6th annd 7th and that they are still the fourth fastest team, the car still needs more downforce, he was bang on. Allison also talked about these upgrades and said theyre from all the way back when they just for an idea of the W15 at launch, said that we will see true development progress they've made in the next few races. Motorsport said that they have a full package coming for Canada but are trying to get it to next race, Monaco. Allison also mentioned to Ted that the big upgrade package they have coming before the summer break will put them in contention for not only podiums but potentially race wins
