5 second penalty for Sainz. Incredibly ridiculous.

Is it though... I mean Sainz did cause that collision by losing control of the car.

Agreed. Sometimes you gamble and you lose.

Pace was good contrary to what was said earlier in this thread.

This is quite deceptive in the case of Norris. He had 3 tenths or more on everyone. In the beginning of the race he was stuck behind Perez who was the slowest of the top cars. In the middle, he showed his pace. In the end, his fresher hards did not make a big difference. Verstappen did 40+ laps on hards here last year. In the final stint, Norris wasn't even pushing anymore. He had over 7 seconds margin to the next car.

True, that was pretty evident when he was behind Piastri and Sainz and closing in on them fairly easily. But, just wanted to push back on the narrative that the pace was "disappointing" given the car really hasn't changed since Bahrain.

That is fair.

If that’s a penalty, and I may see the point, then Piastri pushing Sainz out of track was a penalty as well, he also missed the apex to defend and ended up taking both out of track.

Not sure what kind of consistency this is…

Edit: and if you penalize Sainz for a collision, that’s 10s not 5s. Total nonsense.

What was concerning was that both Ferrari pilots were not able to overtake Mclaren with DRS. Sainz had to dive so hard, he almost crashed. Has Mclaren improved their straight line speed so much ? Has Ferrari gone backwards with their aero ?

Fantastic, Piastri pushes Sainz - no penalty. Piastri hits Sainz' tyre himself - penalty Sainz. Nothing less to expect when it comes to how Ferrari is treated! This has to be protested

On another note, Vasseur makes it sound as a joke, but still implies SC was intentionally put ahead of Max and not the race leader:

We were a bit unlucky with the Safety Car, but that’s how it goes. The Safety Car is so used to seeing Max ahead that it came out in front of him. But that’s how it is.
And they call it a stall. A STALL!
