bullet proof: RB19 zero mechanical failures?

Post

Am I misremembering this, or has the RB19 indeed had zero mechanical failures? Or at least Verstappen’s RB19?

That has to be a record, I don’t think that has ever been achieved?

Verstappen was the one to have a mechanical failure, out in the start of Q2 in Jeddah. Car stopped on track. He was blasting the weekend up to that point and I am quite certain it cost him the win.

Ah, guess I must have missed that one.

But no DNF's because of mechanical issues, correct?

They've had mechanical issues, just nothing that caused DNF's. They elected to take a 5th gearbox for Verstappen at the Belgium Grand Prix. No car is 100% bullet proof, but I think Red Bull's mechanics and engineers have worked tirelessly all season long to ensure issues didn't become race ending problems. They should be applauded for the work they've put in.
I also guess they've not had to push the RB19 to it's absolute limits, plenty of time in hand to allow Max to cruise to victory without running behind in hot air too often.

That's right, but the 5-place grid penalty had zero effect on the race outcome

I guess reliability has gotten much better across the board, for everybody.

But still, the RB19 has been as sturdy as it has been quick.

Yes, this was the first season it was on an absolutely professional level.

There have been so many seasons where RBR was plagued with mechanical error I sometimes wondered if they were too lenient with accepting that. I mean, even in 22 max stopped on track on 2 of the first 3 races, checo joined him in one of those and later had another technical DNF.

But 23, yes, finally a truly professional level. RBR stepped up in that category as well. Helped by having the best car, for sure, but still.

I don't think RB had any reliability issues to speak of in 2021 either.

Honda definitely deserves lots of credit there, as 2015-18 was failure-city...🥲

Being with honda also helped redbull up their game they used to have common gearbox and driveshaft problems.
